OLD TOWN – The Penobscot Indian Nation will receive a $57,829 grant from the Department of Justice to address issues surrounding violence against women, announced U.S. Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins. The STOP Violence Against Indian Women Discretionary Grant Program assists Indian tribal governments in developing and strengthening tribal justice systems’ responses to violent crime against Indian women.
