Jesse Speirs of Bangor tied for 15th Sunday in his first American Junior Golf Association tournament at MeadowWood Golf Course in Spokane, Wash.

Speirs, 15, posted rounds of 73 Saturday and 77 Sunday for a 6-over-par 150 total. He finished six strokes behind co-champions Nicholas Grigsby of Veradale, Wash., Mitchell McCaughan of Sumner, Wash., and Jason Williams of Meridian, Idaho, in the 83-player field.

The AJGA Preseason Junior series is for boys ages 13-18 who have not competed previously in an AJGA event. Players finishing in the top 15 earn from one to three automatic entries in a future AJGA tournament depending on how well they placed.
