Mike Curtis
Rockland’s junior second baseman led off two baseball games with home runs and had a triple, single, and three RBIs in another to lead the Tigers to three wins over Belfast, Maranacook, and Maine Central Institute. Curtis also had a single and two steals.
Small School (Classes C-D)
Steven Colbeth
The sophomore pitcher and first baseman for Washington Academy of East Machias had two home runs, a triple, two doubles, a single, and seven RBIs in two baseball wins last week. He also pitched seven innings – four in relief and three in a combined, one-hit shutout.
Girls
Big School (Classes A-B)
Chantelle Haggerty
The Hermon track and field senior has finished first or helped the Hawks finish first in 11 of 12 possible events she has participated in this season. Her season-bests of 12.7 seconds in the 100-meter dash, 27.3 in the 200, 1 minute in the 400 and a height of 9-6 in the pole vault are among the top finishes in Eastern Maine so far this year.
Small School (Classes C-D)
Ashley Woodward
The Narraguagus senior softball pitcher recorded her second no-hitter this season and the seventh of her career against Machias April 27. Last week Woodward went 3-0, had 45 strikeouts and gave up five walks, five hits and one earned run in 19 innings of work.
