‘Guagus ace Woodward perfect in beating Vikes

SEARSPORT – Senior Ashley Woodward fired a perfect game Wednesday, striking out 13, to lead Narraguagus of Harrington to a 5-0 victory over Searsport in a battle of high school softball unbeatens.

The game was Woodward’s eighth career no-hitter and her third in five starts this season. She also threw a perfect game as a sophomore.

Woodward also drove in two runs with a single and a double. Anne Woodsum, Heather Fitzpatrick and Missy Barbee added RBI singles.

Tara Lee Webster struck out 13 and walked just two for the Vikings.

At Van Buren, Maranda Butler cracked a two-run homer to go with two singles as the Tigers beat the Crusaders to remain unbeaten.

Sabrina Butler notched two singles and a triple for Fort Fairfield. Teri Lynch ripped a double and a triple.

Nicole Corbin and Danielle Gagnon each contributed a single and a double for Van Buren and Micah LaPlante singled twice.

At Madawaska, Ashley Bouchard had five strikeouts and allowed only two hits for Madawaska.

Sarah Dufour had a triple and a double, knocking in two runs for the Owls. Bouchard had two singles and two RBIs and Danielle Daigle singled and doubled for Madawaska.

At Mars Hill, Southern Aroostook capitalized on Central Aroostook’s nine errors and 15 walks to earn a win.

Michelle Boutilier and Brandi Randall had three singles each for Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook.

Stevie Fletcher hit a triple and a single for Central Aroostook.

At Milo, the Patriots managed just one hit but parlayed 16 walks and numerous hit batsmen into the win.

Jean Hamlin had an RBI single for Penquis, which rallied for six runs in the bottom of the sixth. Dani Graves struck out nine to earn the win.

Heather Woodbury singled twice and knocked in a run and Amanda Keyte had a single and two RBIs for Piscataquis Community of Guilford. Caterina Riitano struck out 14 batters.

At Dover-Foxcroft, Cindy Koscielny hit a solo homer and knocked in two runs as the Tigers roared.

Sarah Carnes collected three singles for Dexter. Karen Nelson provided two singles and three RBIs.

The Ponies had four different hitters with a single each.

At Greenville, Darcie Larsen allowed only one hit in blanking the Lakers. Larsen struck out nine and walked three.

Jessie Craft led the Greenville offense with three singles and a double. Amber Lavigne had three singles and Crystal Verris added a single and double.

Jodie Merchant sparked the Eagles with a triple and a single.

Hollan Oliver had a single, a double, and a triple for the winners. Roz Santospago rapped a single and a double (1 RBI). Kourtney Larson cracked two singles (1 RBI), and Heather Gray had eight strikeouts in the circle.

Rachel Philio knocked three singles and drove in a run for the Tigers. Dani Crowley contributed a single, a double, and two RBIs.

Elise Bishop stroked a double and a single with two RBIs while Nickie Boutin and winner Sarah Clapp (1 RBI) added two singles each. Clapp pitched a three-hitter, striking out five and walking one.

Holly Franck tripled and singled for Stearns of Millinocket.

At Madawaska, Ted McHenry allowed just two hits and three runs to help the Owls win their third game in four tries.

Bryan Daigle got Madawaska going with a two-run triple in the first. Kevin Dube, Marc Garcia and Ted McHenry all produced a double and a single.

Jerid Hendrickson belted a triple in the third inning for one of Limestone’s two hits.

Stacy Ayotte (1 RBI) and Tyler Hews each doubled and singled for Van Buren.

At Ashland, Griffin Hardy and Zack Austin laced back-to-back triples to ignite a five-run third as the Warriors rolled.

In addition to their triples, Austin rapped two singles and Hardy added a single. Corey Edkins and Matt McCluskey had three singles each for Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook.

Brandon Millett and Chris Long sparked the Hornets with an RBI single each. Mark Duperry and Eric Ham each knocked two singles.

Dan Codrey knocked in three runs with a double and a single for Central Aroostook of Mars Hill. Jeff Clockedile doubled and singled (1 RBI) and Brian Grew singled twice.

At Pittsfield, Andy Kenny spun a four-hit shutout, striking out six and walking none as the Black Bears of Readfield prevailed.

Jared Lemieux and Seth Emery sparked the attack with an RBI triple each for Maranacook. Ben Muniz rapped a single and a triple.

Steve Kennedy ripped a double for the Huskies.

Steve Kissell sparked the Patriots with a 13-strikeout effort. He also provided three singles and an RBI. Jordan Allen rapped three singles with an RBI.

At Dover-Foxcroft, Seth Gabarro’s three-run home run in the fourth proved to be the difference in the game as he helped lead the host Ponies past their big rivals.

Gabarro also singled twice and drove in five total runs. Josh Withee pitched a seven-hitter and singled twice while freshman Caleb Pelletier drove in the tying run with a two-run single in the third inning.

Adam Russell led the Tigers with two doubles and two RBIs. Ross Morrison doubled in a run and Eric Day also had a double.

Josh Bolton had a RBI double and Bennett Gray knocked in a run with a single for Deer Isle-Stonington.
