HOULTON – Aroostook County Sheriff James P. Madore completed participation in the 82nd session of the National Sheriffs’ Institute held April 14-16 in Longmont, Colo.

Madore was awarded his degree of completion from Larry Solomon, deputy director of the National Institute of Corrections, and Fred G. Wilson, National Sheriffs’ Association director of training.

The institute is the only national executive development program designed for sheriffs. Madore joined 39 other sheriffs from across the country to address issues faced by the county officers, including homeland security, school violence, court security, drugs and community relations.

The NSA is a nonprofit association located in Alexandria, Va., and represents the 3,100 elected sheriffs across the nation.

It has more than 20,000 members, including deputy sheriffs, other law enforcement professionals and students.
