As a disabled veteran, I am concerned with quite a few things our government is planning; such as the shutdown of Togus VA Hospital, the refusal of Congress to pass concurrent receipt and many other benefits that we veterans constantly lose. I want someone in Congress who will continue to fight for us veterans and not just pay lip service.
I e-mailed all of the people who are running for Rep. John Baldacci’s seat to see how they reacted to veterans’ issues. I was surprised when only two answered. One gave me the standard “I’m a vet and I will vote for veterans’ issues.”
But only one of them showed concern and e-mailed me several times to find out what problems are facing vets. That person was Sean Faircloth. He wanted to know what the problems were and what was going on.
I want someone like Faircloth in Congress to fight for us veterans and fight to keep Togus open and fight for concurrent receipt. Otherwise, we are going to have to go to Boston for medical care at our own expense.
