JONESPORT – Daren Kelly blasted a two-run home run in the fifth inning to give the Jonesport-Beals baseball team a 3-0 victory over Shead of Eastport Saturday in high school action.

Billy Merchant and Shead’s Ben Maloney locked up in a pitchers’ duel, each allowing three hits. Merchant struck out 13 and walked one for Jonesport-Beals while Maloney struck out 12 and walked five for the Tigers.

Lee 13, Woodland 2

At Woodland, Lee took advantage of 16 Woodland walks and eight errors, scoring four unearned runs as the Pandas tamed the Dragons.

Jeremy Ham cracked a two-run double to go with a single for Lee. Zack Curry ripped an RBI double.

Tony Alviar sparked Woodland with two singles.

At Fort Kent, Jared Sylvia slammed a two-run homer to cap a four-run second inning during which Houlton plated four unearned runs as the Shiretowners prevailed.

Mike Lenentine hurled a one-hitter, striking out 17. He also had two singles.

Randy Ouellette singled for the Warriors’ lone hit. Jesse Jalbert fanned 11 batters.

At Jonesport, Josh Fish singled and came to score on an error in the sixth inning gave East Grand of Danforth the win over the Royals.

Chris Irish and Darius Parker had a double two singles and two RBIs each for the Vikings. Jim Zugelder doubled and drove in two runs.

For Jonesport-Beals, Alvin Beal had four singles and three runs batted in while Ben Durkee singled twice.

Bucksport sweeps Caribou

At Bucksport, Golden Bucks pitchers allowed five hits and six runs in a doubleheader, taking the first game 5-3 and winning the second 8-3.

In the first game, Andy Wentworth struck out 10 and walked two in the win. Marcus Boober hit a key two-run double in the third and Abram Allard chipped in with two singles and an RBI.

Justin Selfridge led Caribou with two singles and two RBIs.

In the second game, Chris McHale gave up two hits in six innings for Bucksport. Jason Harvey racked up four RBIs on a two-run homer in the fifth and a two-run double in the sixth.

Adam Sheehan rapped two singles and a double and added an RBI. Allard singled twice and knocked in a run.

Bryce McCrossin hit an RBI single for the Vikes.

At East Machias, Jared Gray and Ryan Harmon each slammed two-run homers to lift the Raiders over the Blue Devils.

Harmon added a two-run triple to go with his homer. Steven Colbeth cracked a pair of RBI doubles, Mike Marcoll had two singles and an RBI, and Jeremy Gray rapped an RBI double.

Joe Footer laced a two-run double for Calais.

At Woodland, Ashley Linscott’s two-run double in the top of the sixth helped boost the Pandas past the Dragons.

Ashley Gifford and Michaela Ham each singled twice and drove in a run for Lee. Deidra Ham added an RBI single.

Katie Smith led Woodland with a double, a single and two RBIs. Alicia Vose singled twice and drove in a run.

At Jonesport, Naomi Chandler and Danielle Alley combined to drive in 11 runs as the Royalettes outslugged the Vikings.

Alley drove in six runs on a triple and a single while Chandler had five RBIs on two doubles and a single. Rachelle Parker doubled, singled and hit a three-run homer. Jody Pinkham chipped in with three RBIs on three singles and a double.

Ryanne Flannery knocked in three RBIs on three singles for East Grand of Danforth. Chantal Parker hit a double and two singles and added two RBIs. Stephanie Osnoe doubled and singled twice.

Nadine Bouchard led the Tigerettes of Eastport with three RBIs on two singles. Nikki Ellington singled twice and drove in a run, and Samantha Davis doubled and singled.

At Bangor, the Rams got solid pitching performances from Jen Jimmo and Shelby Soohey to sweep a doubleheader from the Wildcats, winning 12-0 in the first game and 16-3 in the second.

In the first game, Jimmo hurled a one-hit shutout, walking none and striking out three. She contributed a double and a triple. Ashley Tower and Jen Wright each doubled. Megan Huckins and Courtney Smith rapped two singles each. Sarah Gahagan singled for the Wildcats’ lone hit.

In the second game, Huckins jolted a three-run homer, a double and a triple to tally five RBIs. Smith cracked a double and two singles. Shelby Soohey had two doubles, and Jamie Kowalski notched two singles. Marigan Bishop singled to drive in a run for Presque Isle.

At East Machias, Katie Frost scattered four hits, struck out 13 and walked one to propel the Blue Devils past the Raiders.

Frost also drove in three runs on two singles and a double. Jamie Doliber added a triple and an RBI and Amanda Brown also tripled for Calais.

WA’s Katie Cates singled twice. Steph Almendinger singled and scored the Raiders’ run on an error.

White, Bucks sweep Vikes

At Bucksport, Kelly White fired a no-hitter in the first game of a doubleheader to help Bucksport to a 23-0 win over Caribou while two Golden Bucks pitchers combined on a one-hitter in a 24-1 win in the second game.

In the first game, White fanned 14 batters and walked only one. Jessica Taylor sparked the offensive attack with a three-run triple. Janna Richards knocked three singles, and Elissa Gordon added a double.

In the second game, Brittany Damon and Tara Tweedie each had three singles and combined on a one-hitter for Bucksport.

Taylor once again sparked the offense, rapping a triple and three singles, totaling five hits in the two games. White had three doubles and a single.

Simone Willett singled for the Vikings.
