WISCASSET – Peter Oakes of Boothbay benefitted from some late-race accidents, taking the pro stock feature race despite crossing the finish line in third place Saturday night at Wiscasset Raceway.

The race finished under a red flag after Daren Ripley of Appleton hit Scott Chubbuck of Wiscasset, who was running second in the final lap. Chubbuck had spun race leader Charlie Colby of Newcastle before crossing the finish line.

Lincolnville’s Paul Pierce finished in second place. Harpswell’s Mark Lucas was third, John Phippen of Bar Harbor was fourth, and Cory Hight of Skowhegan took the fifth spot.

Emerson, Reynolds post wins

At Winterport Dragway, Dan Emerson of Hermon took first place in the Gamblers Race during opening day. Allen Cormier of Hudson placed second and Jeff Saunders of Bucksport took third.

In the Street Trophy division, Mike Reynolds of Winterport took first and Mike Fuchswanz of Vassalboro placed second.

Fowler claims pro series victory

At Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Jason Fowler of Scarborough held off Gorham’s Dan McKeage to earn his first NASCAR pro series feature win of the season.

McKeage finished in second place. David Pinkham of Buxton was third, Standish’s Pee Wee Knight took fourth and Alan Tardiff of Lyman was fifth.
