Governor’s wife to read to children in Fort Kent

FORT KENT – Maine’s first lady, Mary Herman, wife of Gov. Angus King, will be in Fort Kent on Thursday, May 9, to read to children enrolled in the SAD 27 CHIPPY Even Start Family Literacy Program.

Families in the CHIPPY program have written and illustrated their own books for the event and will read them to Herman and other guests at the author’s tea, which is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

Tea, coffee, and other refreshments will be served after the author’s tea, and guests will have the opportunity to speak with Herman before she leaves. The public is invited but should call ahead at 834-3536.
