Bubar lifts Tigers past Owls

FORT FAIRFIELD – Ashlee Bubar slammed a two-run double in the fifth inning to lift the Fort Fairfield Tigers to a 7-6 high school softball victory over the Madawaska Owls Tuesday.

Bubar added two singles for the Tigers and Sabrina Butler had an RBI double. Brooke McCrum and Terri Lynch each chipped in with RBI singles.

Meghan Marshall recorded three singles and drove in a run for Madawaska and Kristine Cyr singled twice.

At Woodland, Tara Williams belted a grand slam and a two-run single in a 13-run, fifth-inning rally that erased a 9-5 deficit.

Katie Holmes had two doubles and two singles good for five RBIs while Megan Lord and winning pitcher Katie Smith had three singles each; Alicia Vose contributed a two-run homer and a single and Kelsey Snowman singled twice.

Katie Stevens had three singles for Machias; Amanda Thibodeau, Jenny Grant and Jillian Whitney had two singles each and Tracy Guptill hit a solo homer.

At Eastport, Katie Frost and Lanna Martin teamed up on a three-hitter, striking out six and not walking anyone, and Martin walloped a grand slam in an 11-run first-inning rally.

Frost and Jamie Doliber had a double and a single apiece for Calais. Doliber had a two-run double in the first-inning rally.

Skylar Richardson had an RBI single for Shead.

At Caribou, Valerie Lenentine five RBIs on two singles and a triple to help lead the Houlton to victory.

Anna Lenentine hit three RBI singles for Houlton while Claire Thompson had three RBIs on two singles.

Melissa Brissette and Jessica Cyr each had an RBI and two singles for Caribou.

At Presque Isle on Monday, Jessica Miller and Bailey Hovey scored on bases-loaded walks in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Wildcats a win over the Shiretowners in the rain.

Lauren Wildeman had a double, single, and three RBIs for Presque Isle while Bailey had a pair of singles and drove in one run.

Sara Beasley singled twice and had two RBIs and Emily Cole had two singles and drove in a run for Houlton.

At Sherman Station, Amanda Fitzpatrick hit three singles and an RBI double in the top of the sixth that helped Hodgdon secure the lead.

Erin Foster had three singles for the Hawks while Sarah Quint, Alisha Dwyer and Heather Martin each added two singles.

Jayme Green led Katahdin with four RBIs on two singles while Megan Libby hit two doubles and a single. Krystle McMoarn contributed with a single and a double while Morgan Anderson chipped in with two singles.

Missy Barbee hit two doubles for the Knights while Heather Fitzpatrick and Jen Strout had two singles apiece.

Rachelle Parker hit two singles for Jonesport-Beals while Danille Alley chipped in with an RBI double.

At Van Buren, Nicole Corbin and Danielle Gagnon scored the tying and winning runs, respectively, both on passed balls in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Corbin and Micah LaPlante each hit three singles for the Crusaders.

Pam Spooner had two singles, a double and a triple for Ashland while Amanda Martin and Cara Campbell each hit triples.

At Houlton, Erin Moakler rapped a two-run double in the fifth inning and scored on a fielder’s choice by Megan Jago to snap a 13-all tie and lead Greater Houlton Christian Academy to the victory.

Wisdom of St. Agatha scored twice in the sixth, but Kia Faulkner shut down the Pioneers in the seventh to preserve the win.

Christa Lizotte posted two singles for the Pioneers.

At Jonesport Monday, Alvin Beal had two RBIs on a double and two singles and sprained his ankle sliding into home to score the game-winning run for Jonesport-Beals in the bottom of the seventh.

Billy Merchant and Ben Durkee each had two RBI singles for the Royals while Darren Kelley added two singles.

Mike Dennolti hit a two-run double for Calais while Joe Footer had a two-run single.

At Presque Isle on Monday, Ben Pierce’s RBI single and Erik O’Connell’s pinch-hit RBI single keyed a four-run fourth inning for the Shiretowners and they held on for the win over the Wildcats.

Pierce added a single, and Jared Sylvia had a double and a single for Houlton.

Aaron Kirstead and Adam Swanson had a single and an RBI apiece for Presque Isle.

Garcia had a two-run homer, triple, and a two-run sacrifice fly. Steve Soucy had a double and one RBI. Steve Guerrette hit a single and a double with one RBI.

Tyler Bernaiche had a single and an RBI for Fairfield.

Jeremy Gillespie hit a double, two singles, and stole six bases. Tony Alvair had a double and a single with two RBIs.

Billy Merchant hit an RBI single for Jonesport-Beals while Jared Alley had a double and Matt Bryant contributed with a single.

Matt Carney had two singles and Bruce Oakes added a double and two RBIs for Ashland.

At Stacyville, Jim Griffin had two singles, two RBIs, and scored two runs, while the Hawks pitchers struck out nine Cougars.

Ryan Blanchette had two singles and two RBIs along with Jeff Condon’s three singles and three RBIs to help pace Hodgdon. Matt Day and Chris Blanchette each had two singles.

Justin Stevens’ single was the only hit for Katahdin of Sherman Station.

At Caribou, senior righty Travis Snell fired a four-hitter in his first start of the season, striking out nine and walking one, and Jerry Shanahan had four hits to pace Caribou.

Shanahan and Justin Selfridge had RBI singles in the first inning as Caribou took a lead it would never relinquish.

Shanahan had a double and three singles good for two RBIs, Andrew Bouchard drove in two runs with a homer and a single, and Snell and Adam Fowler each had a double, single, and RBI.

Erik O’Connell had an RBI double for Houlton.

Zack Ludington hit a double and two singles with four RBIs for Calais.

Matt McLasey had a two-run double and single for the Warriors of Dyer Brook.

Corey Bourgoin hit two singles with an RBI, Jared Boucher also had two singles with an RBI, and Jon Binette hit a pair of singles for Fort Kent.

At Wisdom, Todd Thibeault and Andrew Gervais combined on a two-hitter, striking out 14 and walking six, and Brad Thibeault’s second homer of the season proved to be the game-winner in the third inning.

Dan Buckley and Jason Thompson combined on a four-hitter for Washburn, striking out 10 and not walking anybody.

Buckley doubled and scored the Washburn run on a passed ball.

Woodland’s Gervais, Jason Bouchard, and Chris Pelletier and Washburn’s Trevor Thibodeau all had singles.

Travis Jordan doubled and singled and drove in a run for Ellsworth.
