Justin Allen helps lift Pats by Schenck for third victory

EAST MILLINOCKET – Justin Allen recorded three singles and drove in two runs to lift the Penquis Patriots to a 10-3 high school baseball victory over the Schenck Wolverines Wednesday.

Mike Grindle and Colby Chase each added two singles for the Patriots with Grindle driving in two runs.

Mike Albert paced Schenck with two singles and two RBIs while Drew Fayle and Jarrod Desantis each added two singles. Fayle also had an RBI.

At Dover-Foxcroft, Rob Crocker hit an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to plate the winning run, and Hunter Wilbur piled on the insurance by hitting a three-run single later in the inning as the Ponies cruised.

Foxcroft’s Jason Weymouth scattered seven hits, struck out 11 and walked one. Crocker also doubled. Danny White singled and scored on Crocker’s hit in the sixth.

Brad Roy singled twice for the Hawks. Phil Cayford struck out six and walked two in the loss.

At Pittsfield, Ben Cowan and Chris Larson combined to toss a one-hitter as the Lions cruised.

Devon Potvin laced two doubles and knocked in three runs for Belfast. Matt Olson launched two doubles and drove in a pair, and Matt Welch contributed two -singles.

Phil Hendricks singled for the Huskies.

Joel Barrett slammed a two-run home run for Brewer, Tony Doucette doubled and Matt Sargent had an RBI single.

Asa Jones singled twice for Ellsworth.

At Mount Desert, Bangor took advantage of four errors to score five unearned runs in an eight-run sixth inning.

Kevin Proctor tripled, doubled, and drove in two runs for Bangor. Kyle Baker added three singles and an RBI and Nate Hall singled twice.

B.J. Greenleaf cranked a two-run home run for MDI and singled twice. Brad Dalton added a solo home run and single and Kyle Jones had an RBI single.

At Blue Hill, Abram Allard belted a two-run home run in the top of the 10th inning, lifting the Golden Bucks to victory in a battle of Eastern Maine powers.

Allard also singled twice for Bucksport to back relief winner Adam Sheehan. Jason Harvey tripled and singled while Kyle Mercer doubled and singled.

Chris Sargent stroked four singles with an RBI to pace George Stevens Academy. Jed Garvey provided a double and two singles (1 RBI) and Baren Yurchick singled twice with two RBIs.

At Harrington, Pasco Grove scattered five hits to go with 12 strikeouts and six walks, and drove in two RBIs on three singles to lead the Vikings.

Drew Mercier chipped in with a double, a single and an RBI for Searsport. Robert Johnson tripled and singled, and Marcus Quisenberry hit a pair of singles.

Sean Reynolds paced the Knights with a double and two RBIs. Mike Beal also doubled and Saben Rossi added an RBI single.

At Lincoln, Andrew Kites scored what proved to be the winning run on a two-out single by Fred Pete in the sixth inning.

Kites finished the game with a double, single and two runs scored and Steve Whitney struck out 11 while walking two and had a pair of singles for Mattanawcook.

Dustin Young had a leadoff home run to begin the game and also drove in a run on a sacrifice fly for Sumner of East Sullivan. A.J. Pennartz had two singles.

At Deer Isle, Keith Champion nailed a two-run homer in the top of the seventh to secure the win for Penobscot Valley.

Cody Thompson hit a two-run home run as well as a solo shot in the sixth that put the Howlers in the lead. Brody Artes contributed with two singles.

Josh Eaton hit two singles and a double for Deer Isle-Stonington, while Nick Ciomei had a two-run single. Josh Bolton added a solo home run and a single.

Rob Girvan hit an RBI double for Central while James Gray and Joey Kane had an RBI single apiece.

At Lee, Joe Footer hit a grand slam and a two-run homer to help carry Calais past the Pandas.

Nate Drew and Jason Mallett hit a double and a single apiece for Lee Academy.

At East Millinocket, Jessica Day scored on a fielder’s choice by Heather Duprey with one out as the Wolverines nipped the Patriots.

Lynn Farrington spun a three-hitter and struck out 11 for the winners. She contributed two singles at the plate.

Ashley Pelletier and Arielle Sickler had an RBI single each for Penquis of Milo.

At Harrington, Tara-Lee Webster registered four strikeouts and one walk in a complete-game effort as the Vikes edged the Knights.

Lindsey Seekins cracked two singles for Searsport. Nicole Shute had a single, and Megan Porter singled and came home on a passed ball.

Missy Barbee laced a double and a single for Narraguagus while Erica Mann had an RBI single.

Meghan Ruhlin sparked the Tigers of East Sullivan with an RBI single. Rachael Philio cracked two singles.

At Blue Hill, Leah Page hit a two-run triple and a single for Bucksport to help lead them past George Stevens Academy.

Sarah Clapp had two singles for GSA while Nikki Kenneston added an RBI triple.

Stearns, Central split

At Millinocket, Jordan Legassey’s single in the bottom of the eighth drove in Holly Franck and lifted the Minutemen to an 8-7 win over the Red Devils in the first game of a doubleheader. Central of Corinth took the second game 10-6.

In the first game, Franck was 5-for-5 with four singles and a triple, which put her into scoring position in the eighth. Legassey racked up two singles and a triple and Jessica Jandreau singled twice. Renee Trafton and Jess Kaelin each doubled in the seventh to help the Devils tie the game.

In the second game, Trafton tripled and added three singles. Jenny Rollins smacked a two-run homer and singled. Nicole Labbe hit a double and a pair of singles, and Jody Harvey singled twice. Legassey led Stearns with a triple and a single. Rebecca Saucier hit a double and a single and Casey Popp chipped in with two singles.

At Brewer, Vanessa Michaud slammed a pinch-hit RBI triple in the sixth to give the Witches the winning edge. Sarah DeFilipp followed with an RBI single to give Brewer an insurance run.

Sherri Capponi earned the win for Brewer by holding the Eagles to four hits while striking out five and not walking a batter.

Tess Miller singled twice for Ellsworth and Crystal Roberts had an RBI single.
