Stevens hits homer in 6th, lifts Machias by Woodland

MACHIAS – Todd Stevens ripped a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to help lift the Machias Bulldogs to a 9-6 high school baseball victory over the Woodland Dragons Wednesday.

Nate Poore fired a two-hitter, striking out 13 and walking 10. He also doubled and singled for Machias. Stevens finished the game with six RBIs with the homer and three singles. Scott Brokaw chipped in with an RBI single.

Chad Pike powered the Dragons with a single and a three-run triple.

At Dyer Brook, Corey Edkins struck out five batters in his three-inning stint and rapped a double to help the Warriors remain undefeated.

Zack Philibert hit a triple for Southern Aroostook and Mike Lopez doubled.

Justin Stevens stroked a single and a double for Katahdin of Sherman Station. Chris McNally had two singles.

At Fort Fairfield, the Crusaders plated seven unearned runs on eight Fort Fairfield errors en route to the win.

At Caribou, Ryan Cousins sparked the Vikings with three singles, including a two-run hit in their four-run first.

Justin Selfridge chipped in with two doubles and an RBI, Andrew Bouchard singled, doubled and drove in two runs, and Mike Hersey had two singles and an RBI for Caribou.

Taylor Marquis doubled for Fort Kent and Randy Ouellette and Nick Thibodeau each had a run-scoring single.

At Harrington, Pasco Grove scattered five hits to go with 12 strikeouts and six walks, and drove in two RBIs on three singles to lead the Vikings.

Drew Mercier chipped in with a double, a single and an RBI for Searsport. Robert Johnson tripled and singled, and Marcus Quisenberry hit a pair of singles.

Sean Reynolds paced the Knights with a double and two RBIs. Mike Beal also doubled and Saben Rossi added an RBI single.

At Lincoln, Andrew Kites scored what proved to be the winning run on a two-out single by Fred Pete in the sixth inning.

Kites finished the game with a double, single and two runs scored and Steve Whitney struck out 11 while walking two and had a pair of singles for Mattanawcook.

Dustin Young had a leadoff home run to begin the game and also drove in a run on a sacrifice fly for Sumner of East Sullivan. A.J. Pennartz had two singles.

At Millinocket, Anthony Arsenault hit a three-run double and Craig Cullen had three RBIs on two doubles to help lead Stearns to the win.

Rob Girvan hit an RBI double for Central while James Gray and Joey Kane had an RBI single apiece.

At Deer Isle, Keith Champion nailed a two-run homer in the top of the seventh to secure the win for Penobscot Valley.

Cody Thompson hit a two-run home run as well as a solo shot in the sixth that put the Howlers in the lead. Brody Artes contributed with two singles.

Josh Eaton hit two singles and a double for Deer Isle-Stonington while Nick Ciomei had a two-run single. Josh Bolton added a solo home run and a single.

At Harrington, Tara-Lee Webster registered four strikeouts and one walk in a complete-game effort as the Vikes edged the Knights.

Lindsey Seekins cracked two singles for Searsport. Nicole Shute ripped a single, and Megan Porter singled and came home on a passed ball.

Missy Barbee laced a double and a single for Narraguagus while Erica Mann knocked an RBI single.

At Jonesport, Sabrina Stewart laced an RBI single in the seventh to produce the game-winner for the Royalettes.

Emily Mawhinney sparked the Raiders with two singles and three RBIs. Molly Curz produced three singles and two RBIs, and Krystal Stauffer launched two singles.

Amanda Martin slammed a three-run homer for the Hornets. Amber Smith ripped a triple and two singles, and Cora Campbell singled, doubled, and knocked in a run.
