Clark’s single lifts Nokomis past Old Town in 9th

NEWPORT – Danielle Clark roped a single down the left-field line to score Michelle Murray with the game-winning in the bottom of the ninth inning Thursday afternoon as Nokomis rallied for a 3-2 high school softball victory over Old Town.

Kaycea Grignon laced an RBI double to tie it in the seventh, scoring Lindsey Welch, who had doubled earlier in the inning. Tia Beauregard contributed an RBI single behind Murray, who spread out 10 hits.

Meghan King stroked two singles and drove in a run for the Indians. Renee Thibodeau rapped an RBI single.

At Lincoln, Caterina Riitano spun a one-hitter, fanning 14 and walking four, as the Pirates of Guilford sailed on to the win.

Stephanie Wentworth and Pam Bailey produced two singles and three RBIs each for the winners. Kristi Levesque cracked two singles and knocked in a run.

Kasse Brown laced a two-run single for the Lynx.

At Greenville, Crystal Ferris launched a two-run double to propel the Lakers to victory.

Greenville also took advantage of nine Forest Hills walks. Sarah Hanson contributed an RBI groundout and Michaella Bartley singled.

Lisa Brown laced a double for the Tigers of Jackman and Kim Levesque rapped two singles.

At Bangor, Amanda Pullen and Sarah Carnes each smacked an RBI single in the top of the seventh as the Tigers prevailed.

Carnes struck out nine and walked three in the win. She also hit a double.

Kara Hartman took the loss despite scattering five hits, striking out 12 and walking one. She contributed two singles and an RBI.

At Bucksport, Elissa Gordon, Leah Page, Tara Tweedie and Brittany Damon each had two singles as the Golden Bucks collected 12 hits to down the Crusaders.

Tweedie pitched a four-hitter.

Amelia Mitchell-Storer cracked a triple and drove in one run to go with Rebecca Stevens two singles to pace John Bapst of Bangor.

At Ellsworth, Krystal Baker cracked a single, double and drove in a run as the Eagles topped Hampden.

Becca Saunders and Mallory Patten had two singles each for Ellsworth. Tessa Miller contributed an RBI single.

Kristina Spaulding and Kelly Badger each doubled for the Broncos. Jillian Yarmatino rapped a double, single and scored a run. Cheryl Morris roped two singles.

At Orono, the Ponies parlayed four errors, three walks and Seth Gabarro’s RBI single into five unearned sixth-inning runs to erase a 4-2 deficit.

Gabarro added a three-run single in the seven-run seventh-inning rally that broke the game open.

Gabarro had three singles and four RBIs and Rob Crocker contributed a two-run double and a single good for three RBIs. Jason Weymouth had a run-scoring triple and lefty Josh Withee went the distance for the win.

Bo Thomas, Ryan Levesque and Pat Skall had two singles each for Orono and Dusty Thomas had a two-run double.

At Lincoln, Matt Malone blasted a three-run homer to go with a single as the Lynx doubled up on the Pirates.

Tom Larko doubled and rocked a two-run homer for Mattanawcook. Tyler Libbey laced two singles and knocked in three, and Brian DuPuis singled, doubled and knocked in a run.

Bryan White roped a two-run double for the Pirates of Guilford. Ben Smith doubled and singled (1 RBI). Dan Macomber had two singles and an RBI, and Ben Stearns roped two singles.

At Bangor, Kyle Stone stroked a triple and a single and knocked in four runs to lead the Tigers to the win.

Kyle Morrison laced two doubles and drove in three runs for Dexter.

D.J. McLeary hit three singles for the Patriots and Matt Conley had two.

At Newport, Ryan Brown tossed a two-hit shutout, striking out eight and walking none, as the Indians blanked Nokomis.

Brown also doubled for Old Town. Roger Cole doubled, singled and drove in a pair. Brian Tewhey, Andy Pease and Chris Leopold contributed an RBI single each.

Justin Nichols and Alex Sawyer had a single each for the Warriors.

At Sherman Station, Devan Philbrick laced a triple and a single (1 RBI) as the Knights of Charleston prevailed.

Jordan Trask singled twice and drove in a pair for the winners, and David Day scored four runs.

Justin Stevens and Lance Cunningham rapped two singles each and knocked in two for the Cougars.

At Millinocket, Dustin Young stroked two singles, including an RBI single in the three-run seventh inning, to help lift Sumner of East Sullivan to victory.

Trevor Renwick hit two singles to back winner Young, who scattered nine hits and struck out seven.

Matt Barnett singled three times for Stearns while Greg Kranich (1 RBI) and Craig Cullen had two singles each.

At Ellsworth, Kyle Dalton roped an RBI double and registered the shutout on the mound, giving up four hits, walking only two and striking out eight as the Broncos prevailed.

Evan Thomas laced two singles and drove in a pair for Hampden.

Seth Mayo had 10 strikeouts in the loss for the Eagles. Chad Smith and Aaron Kelly had a double each.

At Bucksport, Conrad Brown walked, moved up on a sacrifice, took third on a single and scored on an error in the eighth to give John Bapst the winning run.

Pat Healy rapped a double and two singles to pace the Crusaders of Bangor, who got a game-tying, two-run double from Zach Means and a go-ahead three-run double in the seventh for the winners.

Means and Jellison each added a single, while Zev Myerowitz doubled twice. Brown, the No. 9 hitter, singled twice and scored three runs behind relief winner Billy Chapman.

Kyle Mercer singled twice for Bucksport, which had sent the game into extra innings on Jake Knight’s two-out, three-run double in the seventh. Abram Allard belted a two-run home run.

Sam Harris cracked a two-run double for Washburn, which took advantage of seven walks. Lucas Hafford laced an RBI double.

Darius Parker sparked the Vikings with an RBI double. Jim Zugelder hit an RBI single.
