The WNBA’s Detroit Shock has waived former UMaine star Jamie Cassidy, Shock head coach Greg Williams announced last week.

Cassidy, who played for the Miami Sol in the summer of 2000 but was waived by that team before the season started last summer, had been allocated to the Shock as a free agent before training camp began last week.

As a free agent, the 6-foot-3 center could be picked up by another team during the preseason. The season opens May 25.
