EAST MACHIAS – Back-to-back home runs in the second inning by James Ramsdell (2 RBIs) and Steven Colbeth highlighted a three-homer attack as Washington Academy downed Sumner 11-2 in high school baseball action Monday.

Barret Craven cracked a two-run homer in the fifth. Ramsdell also had an RBI double, winning pitcher Colbeth rapped two doubles, and Craven added a single.

Kyle Joy and Blake Alley posted RBI singles for the Tigers of East Sullivan.

At Madawaska, the Owls led 4-0 after two innings and cruised past the Tigers.

Alex Daigle had a triple and a single, Ted McHenry doubled, singled, and drove in a run, and Steve Gurrette had a pair of singles and drove in a run for Madawaska.

Aaron Kennison had three singles and Josh Chambers singled and had an RBI for Fort Fairfield.

At Mars Hill, Chris McNally had three singles in the Cougars’ win over the Panthers.

Justin Roy and Justin Stephens had a triple, single, and two runs batted in apiece for Katahdin of Sherman Station.

Adam Crew had three singles, Bryan Grew tripled, singled, and drove a run, and Don Codrey had a pair of singles for Central Aroostook.

At Dyer Brook, Corey Shields fired a one-hitter and blasted a three-run home run as the Warriors blanked the Eagles.

Griffin Hardy singled four times and drove in four runs, Zack Philibert doubled, singled and had an RBI and Corey Edkins collected a pair of singles. Shields also struck out nine without walking a batter.

Eric Johnson’s double was the lone hit for Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics.

At Van Buren, Stacy Ayotte’s two-run home run keyed a five-run second inning as the Crusaders rolled past the Pioneers.

Jeremy Chasse doubled, singled twice, and drove in a run, Sean Violette doubled, singled, and had an RBI, and Tyler LaPierre had two singles and an RBI for Van Buren.

Andrew Gervais homered and Aaron Gervais had two singles for Wisdom of St. Agatha.

Corey Bourgoin led Fort Kent with a triple and a double for two RBIs.

At Calais, winning pitcher Gabe Checker singled and scored the go-ahead run on a passed ball in the two-run sixth-inning rally that broke a 2-2 tie.

Sean Reynolds tripled, doubled, and singled, and Mike Beal tripled. Checker hurled six innings of two-run ball to notch the win and Beal pitched the seventh.

Justin Donovan, Zack Ludington, James Macdonald, Andy Frost, and Sonny Greenlaw had two singles each for Calais, and Ludington had an RBI.

Gerald Holmes had an RBI triple for Shead, and Jason Bones doubled. Ben Maloney pitched a three-hitter.

At Hodgdon, Chris McAfee hit a solo home run and a double to help lead the Hawks to victory.

At Howland, Penobscot Valley snapped a 4-4 tie with a run in the bottom of the seventh when Trey Miller reached on an infield error that allowed him to advance to second, stole third, and scored on Lance Pelkey’s single.

Brody Artes tripled, singled, and knocked in a run for the Howlers, while Miller also had a two-run single in the third. Cody Thompson spun a four-hitter, striking out nine and walking only one.

Dan Frost lashed two doubles and drove in a run for Stearns of Millinocket.

D.J. McCleary stroked three singles for the Patriots. Ben Sobey had two singles and three RBIs, Matt Turgeon singled twice, and Matt Conley doubled and drove in two.

Ross Morrison slammed a three-run home run, Kyle Morrison drove in two runs with a single, and Chris Rabideau singled twice for Dexter.

Ben Stearns, Josh Watson, and John Luellen had a single each for Piscataquis Community.
