Brown leads Lynx past Penquis Pats Mattanawcook gets off to strong start

MILO – The Mattanawcook Academy Lynx of Lincoln scored four runs in the first inning and made their lead stand up in a 9-5 softball win over Penquis Monday.

Jill Murchison tripled and singled, Kasse Brown had two singles and Lyndsey Shorey singled and drove in a run for Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln.

Jean Hamlin tripled, singled twice had had an RBI while Michelle Mulherin and Mindy Dyer had two singles apiece for Penquis.

At Guilford, Nikki Keniston drove in four runs with a home run and two singles to pace the Eagles of Blue Hill.

Elise Bishop added two singles and knocked in two runs for George Stevens Academy.

Caterina Riitano smacked a home run, a single and a double and drove in three runs for Piscataquis Community. Greta Korsman added two singles.

At Dexter, Kristy Veazie singled, doubled and drove in a run to help the Tigers to the win.

Karen Nelson and Ashley Foster added two singles and an RBI apiece. Nelson held Central to just three hits.

Renee Trafton and Terri Underhill rapped an RBI single each for Central of Corinth. Jess Kaelin singled.

At Husson College in Bangor, Bracey Barker rapped four singles, drove in two runs and earned the pitching win for Mount Desert Island.

Tanya Kane knocked in four runs with a double and two singles for the Trojans while Jessica Norwood added a double, two singles and two RBIs.

Rebecca Stevens and Meaghan Brown led the Crusaders with two singles apiece.

At Bangor, Kara Hartman rapped a double and single and collected four RBIs to lead the Patriots.

Hartman was also the winning pitcher, striking out 12 and walking three. Danielle Miller added a triple and an RBI, and Monique Veilleux and Kendil Snow each had a single and an RBI.

Jessie Keuster led the Pandas with a double, two singles, and two RBIs. Jenna Boulrisse had a double and two RBIs.

At Houlton, Aimee Guy’s bases-loaded single with two outs in the sixth inning scored the tying and winning runs for the Shiretowners.

Guy also pitched a seven-hitter for the Shires. Alyssa Foster had three singles and two RBIs, Sarah Beasley had two singles and an RBI, and Kasey Cleary singled twice.

Ashley Desjardins tripled and singled while Ashley Pelletier had two singles for the Warriors.
