PALM COAST, Fla. – Husson College moved up into a tie for 16th at the NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship Wednesday.

The Braves’ second-round score of 312 at Matanzas Woods Golf Club gives them a two-day total of 638.

Defending champion Oklahoma City University leads by four strokes after posting a 298 Wednesday for a 593.

Team scores are determined by adding up the four best scores from each five-man team.

Husson senior Joe Alvarez of Veazie shot a second straight 3-over-par 75 and is tied for 13th among the individuals at 150.

Tyrone Van Aswegen of Oklahoma City and Roy Adair of Spring Arbor College share the top spot at 144.

Senior captain Corey Pion of Vassalboro also turned in a 75 for the Braves after struggling to an opening 88, sophomore Joe Finemore of Augusta shot a 79 for 161, sophomore Shane Ross of Pittsfield recorded his second straight 83 for 166, and senior Bill Hutchins of Bangor also shot an 83 for 169.

Berry College of Mount Berry, Ga., is second among the teams with 597 and Northwood University of West Palm Beach, Fla., is third at 609. Twenty-seven teams are competing.
