Basic Training

Graduates of basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, are:

. Air Force Airman Warren N. Patterson of Orono. The son of Kathy Patterson, he is a 2001 graduate of North Atlantic Regional High School, a home-schooling program, Orono.

. Air National Guard Airman 1st Class David J. Becker, a 2001 graduate of Foxcroft Academy. He is the son of Denise Malloy of Hampden.

. Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Matthew E. Reed, a 2001 graduate of Hermon High School. He is the son of John and Laurel Reed of Hermon.

. Air Force Airman Joseph P. Robinson, a 1998 graduate of Central High School, East Corinth.

. Air Force Airman Benjimin A. Noyes, a 2001 graduate of Hermon High School. He is the son of Lori Noyes of Levant.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Army Pvt. Danielle A. Wilson has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Wilson is the granddaughter of Barbara Wilson of Veazie.

PARIS ISLAND, S.C. – Marine Corps Pvt. Todd D. Avery, son of Carlene J. and Lloyd V. Avery of Old Town, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Paris Island, S.C. Avery is a 2001 graduate of Old Town High School.

Awards

BANGOR – Staff Sgt. Douglas Franklin of Newport was selected recently as Guard Member of the Month at the 101st Air Refueling Wing, Maine Air National Guard, in Bangor. He is assigned to the Security Forces Squadron and is the wing’s combat arms instructor.

Franklin is a graduate of the Air Mobility Command’s Phoenix Raven School. He earned a Community College of the Air Force degree, and is a graduate of Husson College’s criminal justice program, and of the Maine State Police Academy. He is employed by the Maine State Police.

Advanced training

Air National Guard 2nd Lt. Edward J. Vanidestine III, has graduated from undergraduate pilot training at Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi.

Vanidestine is assigned to the 132nd Air Refueling Squadron, 101st Refueling Wing, Maine Air National Guard, Bangor.

He is the son of Edward J. and Mary E. Vanidestine of Holden. The lieutenant is a 1989 graduate of Brewer High School, and a 1999 graduate of Oklahoma State University, Stillwater.

ABERDEEN, Md. – Marine Corps Pfc. Robert J. Bastey recently graduated from the Marine Corps’ basic refrigeration mechanic course at Aberdeen Proving Ground.

Bastey is a 2000 graduate of Bangor High School.

Commissions

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Navy Ensign Matthew P. Domingos has received his commission as a naval officer after completing Officer Candidate School at Naval Aviation Schools Command at Naval Air Station.
