MACHIASPORT – State police Wednesday confirmed that the body discovered on Jasper Beach the night before was that of Russell Wright Jr., 35, of Machiasport.
Sgt. Dennis Appleton of the Maine State Police Criminal Investigation Division said Wright apparently took his own life. He died of a gunshot wound to the head, the sergeant said.
Wright’s body was found about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Appleton said Wright last was seen on Sunday. His family reported him missing to the Washington County Sheriff’s Department on Monday morning, the sergeant said.
