EAST MILLINOCKET – Honor parts for the Class of 2002 have been announced by Principal J.A. Doe. Graduation will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 1, in the Schenck High School gymnasium.

Anna E. Faloon, daughter of Peter and Barbara Faloon of Medway, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2002. She will attend the University of Maine in Orono where she will study chemical engineering.

She has been a member of the honors math team for the past four years. She has participated in the spring musical, band and chorus the past four years. Faloon was a member of the cross-country team for the past three years and a member of the yearbook staff during her junior and senior years. She attended Dirigo Girls State this past summer and participated in All-State Chorus during her senior year. She has been a member of the National Honor Society and received the Maine Scholar Achievement Award during her junior year and the MPA Principal’s Award this spring. She was selected for the Bigelow Laboratory Keller-Bloom program in May 2001 and the University of Maine Pulp and Paper’s Consider Engineering Program in July 2001.

Lynn B. Farrington, daughter of Robert and Jeannine Farrington of Medway, has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2002. She will attend the University of Maine in Orono where she will study chemical engineering.

She has been a member of the concert band, cross-country, basketball and softball teams during the past four years. She was a member of the foreign language club in grades nine to 11. Farrington participated in the honors math program for the past four years. She was a member of the Family Career and Community Leaders of Maine during grades 11 and 12, and yearbook and peer mentoring during her senior year. She was a member of the National Honor Society for the past three years. She was selected as a Penobscot Valley Conference Academic All-Star in 2001 and Penobscot Conference First Team All-Star in 2001. She was a HOBY delegate in 2000. Dirigo Girls State delegate and attended the Pulp and Paper Foundation Explore Engineering Seminar in 2001.

First honor essayist Kelly L. Madore, daughter of Darrell and Linda Madore of Medway, will attend St. Joseph’s College to study nursing. She is a member of the yearbook staff, cross-country team, and Family Career and Community Leaders of Maine. She has been a member of the National Honor Society for the past three years. Madore has received the most valuable runner in cross country award, Maine Scholars Achievement and the Merrimack College Book Award during her junior year. She attended close-up in Washington, D.C., in April 2001.

Second honor essayist Kari L. Somers, daughter of Rick and Lynn Somers of East Millinocket, will attend James Madison University to study biology and pre-med. She has been a member of the National Honor Society, student council vice president, varsity tennis team, peer mentor and peer counselor. She attended the college tour in grade 10 and the college fair in grades 11 and 12.

Third honor essayist Shawn N. McMoarn Jr., son of Shawn N. and June McMoarn of Medway, will attend the Maine Army National Guard and Daniel Webster College to study engineering. He has been an honor roll student and has received athletic and academic letters during the past four years. He also attended flight ground.
