DYER BROOK – Jesse Jalbert of Fort Kent pitched a three-hitter Saturday, outdueling Southern Aroostook’s Cory Shields and Griffin Hardy as the Warriors earned a 3-1 schoolboy baseball victory.

Jalbert allowed only one run and struck out 14. Nick Thibodeau’s RBI single in the fifth provided the game-winning run. Randy Ouellette slapped a single.

Shields and Hardy combined on a two-hitter, striking out 14 for Southern Aroostook. Jared Grant knocked an RBI single, and Evan McGary added a single.

At Ashland, Ted McHenry stroked a double and two singles with an RBI as the Owls won.

Ricky Dube doubled and singled for Madawaska, while Alex Daigle (1 RBI), Greg Dionne and Steve Guerrette contributed two singles apiece.

Eric Ham led Ashland with a double, two singles and two RBIs. Allan O’Clair singled three times.

At Limestone, Steve Hardwick tossed a three-hitter, striking out 12 and walking two, to lift the Eagles past the Crusaders.

Josh Knoll sparked Limestone in the third with a two-run singles. Derek Patten singled twice and drove in a run.

Mike Corbin hit an RBI single for Van Buren. Corbin and Tyler Hews combined on a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts.

Crusaders blank PI twice

At Presque Isle, the Crusaders used solid pitching, excellent fielding and timely hitting to take a pair from Presque Isle, 10-0 in the first game and 2-0 in the second.

In the first game, Keith Nason (four hits, five strikeouts) got the win for John Bapst of Bangor.

Zach Means led the offense with a two-run triple and a single. Zev Myerowitz laced a two-run single. Pat Healy smacked a two-run double. Andy Tremble and Billy Chapman had two singles each.

Matt Gale, Shane Clark, Fred Bird and Chris Parson had a single each for the Wildcats.

In the second game, James Strout got the win on the hill for the Crusaders, tossing a six-hitter.

Myerowitz contributed a sacrifice fly and an RBI single for John Bapst. Chapman knocked two singles and Tremble singled and scored a run.

Matt Carvell hit two singles for Presque Isle.

At Greenville, Derek Boucher tossed a three-hitter with eight strikeouts as the Lakers won the opening game of a doubleheader 13-0. The Vikings took the second game 9-6.

In the first game, Boucher also singled twice for Greenville. Tom Mason smacked a home run and a single. Richard Folsom tripled and singled while Danny Campbell hit two singles.

Seth Preston, Scott Flannery and Brent Byers each singled for East Grand of Danforth.

In the second game, Ryan Fish hit an RBI single. Preston and Josh Fish chipped in with two singles each.

Greenville’s Tyler Muzzy homered and singled and Folsom added two singles.

At Houlton Friday, Erik O’Connell led the way, going 4-for-4, as the Shiretowners captured their ninth win of the season.

O’Connell hit four singles and knocked in two runs. Brandon Carmichael and Ben Pierce each had two singles for Houlton.

Ryan Dorsey led Fort Fairifield with a two-run double.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor Friday, the Tigers’ Ben Maloney outmatched Woodland’s Tony Alviar, spinning a two-hitter with nine strikeouts as Shead of Eastport prevailed.

Teddy Cummings roped an RBI double for the winners and Wes Ellington had an RBI single.

Alviar finished with a two-hitter and eight strikeouts for the Dragons. Andrew Knapp rapped an RBI single, and Ronnie Vences had a single.

At Pittsfield Friday, Shane Dow’s two-run home run and Casey Kenniston’s RBI single in the top of the seventh inning broke a 3-3 tie for the Tigers.

Jason Gammon struck out 10 in a five-hitter for Rockland. Dow finished with a home run, single and three RBIs and Parker Tootil added an RBI triple for Rockland. Mike Curtis tripled.

Phil Hendricks had a triple and a single for Maine Central Institute. Steve Kennedy, Eric Saucier and Matt Huff each had an RBI for the Huskies.

Presque Isle, John Bapst split

At Presque Isle, the Crusaders and Wildcats used balanced hitting to split a doubleheader, with Presque Isle taking the opener 6-4 and John Bapst of Bangor winning the second 10-7.

In the first game, Sarah Gahagan laced two singles and drove in two runs to pace the Wildcats.

Amanda Sangillo led the Crusaders with two singles and two RBIs. Jill Mitchell and Kim Meagher each singled twice.

In the second game, Nikki Novak rapped four singles, knocked in three runs and scored two for Bapst. Sangillo launched a two-run double and Meagher had two singles and drove in a run.

Michelle Post cracked two singles and knocked in two runs to lead Presque Isle. Jessie Miller ripped two singles and an RBI, and Sarah Belden hit three singles and drove in a run.

Greenville sweeps East Grand

At Greenville, Darcie Larsen pitched the Lakers to a doubleheader sweep of the Vikings, throwing a one-hitter in the second game and allowing six hits in two games, combined. Greenville won the opener 12-4 and took the nightcap 12-0.

In the first game, Jessie Craft led the way with three singles for Greenville. Lauren Dallam smacked a double and a single.

Chantel Parker paced East Grand of Danforth with two singles and a double.

In the second game, Dallam laced two singles and a double to spark the Lakers and Diane Aucoin singled twice.

East Grand’s Tabbatha Osnoe singled.
