Avery Horr
The Nokomis senior sprinter-jumper scored 21 of his team’s 43 points at the Penobscot Valley Conference large school track and field championship meet Friday by winning the 110 and 300-meter hurdles races along with a sixth-place finish in the triple jump.
Small School (Classes C-D)
Gunner Siverly
The Bucksport junior was the lone boys competitor to win three individual events at the Penobscot Valley Conference small school championship track and field meet in Dover-Foxcroft Friday. He sprinted to first-place finishes in the 100, 200, and 400-meter dashes.
Girls
Big School (Classes A-B)
Megan Rancourt
The Hampden senior, seeded seventh in the shot put for Friday’s Penobscot Valley Conference large school outdoor track and field championships, bested her seed distance by one foot, 61/2 inches to win the event. Her throw of 30-91/2 helped the Hampden girls win the PVC title.
Small School (Classes C-D)
Kara Hartman
The Bangor Christian junior softball pitcher led the Patriots to three point-worthy wins over Lee, Deer Isle-Stonington and Central. She struck out 34 and walked 13 over that span. Hartman drove in the game-winning run in a 3-2 win over Central and had four RBIs in a 12-7 win against Lee.
