Marlo Bradford of Bangor was elected recording secretary of the Northeast District chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood at its 11th annual convention May 4-5 in Nashua, N.H.
Delegates and members from 42 chapters in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Rhode Island attended.
The P.E.O. Sisterhood is a philanthropic and educational organization that offers opportunities to women for higher education through international, state and local projects, including the P.E.O. Educational Fund, Cottey Junior College in Missouri, P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship Fund, P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education and the P.E.O. Scholar Awards.
There are more than 5,800 chapters in the United States and Canada, with more than 250,000 members. Headquarters are in Des Moines, Iowa.
Rebecca Corey, daughter of Steven and Carolyn Corey of Brewer, received her master’s degree in public health with a concentration in epidemiology from Emory University in Atlanta on May 13. She is a 1996 graduate of Brewer High School and 2000 graduate of the University of Maine. Corey has been accepted into a Ph.D. program at the University of New Hampshire, where she will study and work with nutrition and micronutrients.
