Penquis Valley High School
MILO – Honor parts for the Class of 2002 have been announced by Principal John Robinson. Commencement exercises will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 16, at Penquis Valley High School.
Paul Kusnierz, son of Dennis and Victoria Kusnierz of LaGrange, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2002. He will attend the University of Maine to study biochemistry.
Kusnierz was a track athlete and team captain, a state Science Fair winner and member of the National Honor Society.
Matthew Morris, son of Walter and Karen Morris of Milo, has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2002. He will attend the University of Maine to study civil engineering.
Morris has been the president of the National Honor Society, earned second place in the BEAM competitions and was active in Big Brother-Big Sisters.
Ryan Stanchfield, son of Donald and Susan Stanchfield of Brownville, has been named first honor essayist. He plans to join the U.S. Marine Corps.
Stanchfield was winner of three Decker Awards, a member of the National Honor Society and the golf, basketball, track and tennis teams.
Elizabeth Laverty, daughter of Roberta Laverty of Milo and Edward Laverty of Medford, has been named second honor essayist. She will attend Northeastern University to study journalism.
Laverty has served as Key Club president, was a four-year letter winner in track and a member of the National Honor Society.
