WARREN – The Warren Community Day committee has announced its annual celebration will take place June 29.
The day’s events will include a pancake breakfast, children’s field day, parade, magic show, chicken barbecue, live entertainment, children’s tent, exhibits, open house at the Warren Historical Society, and an evening auction.
The theme for this year is “Now and Then.”
Sixth-graders at Warren Community School will vie for the privilege of being king and queen of the 2002 Warren Community Day parade. Candidates will be evaluated by a panel of judges who will consider each students’ performances in an essay.
Fifth-graders will enter an art contest in which three winners will be chosen for the cover of the 2002 Warren Community Day Itinerary. Prizes will be given to all winners.
The parade will start at 10 a.m. on Main Street. Anyone interested in joining the parade should contact Trish Jacobs at 273-4289.
The craft exhibit offers area artisans a chance to sell their wares, but spaces must be reserved and crafters must bring their own tables.
This year’s annual auction will be held at the Masonic Hall on Route 90. The auction begins at 6 p.m. with auctioneer Clayt Winchenbach.
Anyone interested in helping with the event in any way is encouraged to attend a meeting. The meetings are held at the Warren Public Library at 6:30 p.m., Thursday nights through June. Call Melissa at 273-3371 or Anita at 273-3479 to sign up or for crafts information.
