BANGOR – Display of Barbie and GI Joe dolls, representing most of the conflicts in which the United States has been involved from the Revolutionary War to Desert Storm, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 27, at center court of the Bangor Mall. Also represented will be the Tomb of the Unknowns, the Iwo Jima Memorial, the Vietnam Memorial, “Reflection” of the Vietnam Wall, Army color guard and representatives from the major branches of the U.S. military. On display will be a special memorial in commemoration of Sept. 11, 2001, representing the bravery of the members of the fire and police departments of New York City.

BLUE HILL – Parade, 10 a.m., sponsored by Duffy Wescott Post 85 of the American Legion, will begin at the Legion Hall. Procession to pause at the Main Street Bridge for a wreath ceremony, then proceed to the Seaside Cemetery for a brief ceremony. American Legion Auxiliary No. 85 volunteers, from Duffy-Wescott Post, will distribute red handcrafted poppies honoring America’s war dead, during parade. Free-will contributions accepted. BUCKSPORT – Parade, sponsored by American Legion Post 93, will form at the middle school for a 4 p.m. start May 27. The parade will proceed down School Street to Franklin Street, down Franklin to Mill Street and then to Main Street. Brief ceremony at the monument near the library. The parade will proceed to the town dock, and while the main procession returns to the start, an honor guard will stop at the town dock for a wreath ceremony.

CARIBOU – Ceremonies on May 27 begin with 8 a.m. breakfast at the American Legion Hall. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at the courthouse. Ceremonies at Nylander Museum after the parade and at the Maine Veterans Home at 2:15 p.m..

CARMEL – Services and parade, 10 a.m. May 27, Carmel Elementary School. Veterans, scouts, organizations, others welcome to participate. Conducted by West Penobscot American Legion and Auxiliary.

CASTINE – Parade, 10 a.m. May 27. Participants will gather at 9:45 a.m. at the Court Street cemetery. Procession will pause at the town commons for a ceremony at 10:30 a.m. and will include the traditional reading of the Gettysburg Address. It will continue to the town dock for a wreath ceremony. Col. Alfred Bagot will be the moderator for the ceremonies.

CHARLOTTE – Ceremony at 8:15 a.m. May 27, at Round Pond Cemetery, sponsored by the Charlotte Historical Society. Brunch will be served at the Town Hall immediately after the ceremony.

DEER ISLE – Ceremony 10 a.m. May 27 by Rodney Stinson Post 102 at the mill dam in Deer Isle village. Naval tribute and wreath, which will be cast on the water. Harry Vickerson will be the speaker.

DENNYSVILLE – Baked beans supper, 5 p.m. Saturday, May 25, Edmunds Consolidated School. Evensong, Dennysville-Edmunds Congregational Church, 7 p.m. Sunday, May 26. Memorial Day service and parade in town, Monday, May 27.

DEXTER – The Memorial Day parade and services on May 27 in Dexter have been changed from previous years.

The parade will assemble at 10 a.m. in the municipal parking lot. The route will be from Lower Main Street to the traffic light and onto Church and Dam Streets to the Veterans Memorial Park.

Musical selections by the Dexter Regional High School band will follow the memorial ceremony at the park. The parade will re-assemble on Dam and Grove streets and march back to the starting point.

ELLSWORTH -Fair, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at Life Christian Academy. For information, contact Kim at Life Christian Academy at 667-8622. Parade marchers will gather at 9:30 a.m. May 27, in the parking lot of Larry’s Pastry Shop on Main Street and begin the procession soon thereafter. They will head down Main Street to the bridge, then turn right up State Street toward City Hall for outdoor ceremony.

ETNA – Services and parade, 11 a.m. May 27, at the Four Corners, Etna Village. Veterans, Scouts, organizations, others welcome to participate. Conducted by West Penobscot American Legion and Auxiliary.

FORT KENT – Parade 1 p.m. Sunday, May 26, starting at Ford garage on Route 1 and ending at the high school. Ceremonies on Sunday at cemeteries, the Fish River Bridge and the First and Second World War Memorials on Pleasant Street.

FRANKLIN – Memorial service 9 a.m. May 27, including raising of a 7-foot-by-12-foot monument at the Franklin Monuments site.

HAMPDEN – Service 8:30 a.m. May 27, with Whitcomb-Baker VFW Post and Auxiliary members as host at the post home on Canoe Club Road; parade, 9 a.m., at the post home, proceeding to Locust Grove Cemetery, where a ceremony will occur. A function will be held at the British Cemetery after the Locust Grove ceremony.

HANCOCK – Parade, noon May 27, at Hancock Women’s Club on Route 1, ending at the town’s memorial park at the intersection of Route 1 and West Side Road. Brief ceremony at the monument in the park.

HOULTON – Short ceremony, 9:45 a.m. May 27, at Soldier’s Hill. Parade forms at 10:30 a.m. at People’s Bank parking lot, stopping for a ceremony on the bridge at 10:40 a.m. and marching through town to the park for an 11 a.m. ceremony. Following the parade, there will be a luncheon at the VFW Post 2744 Hall.

HOWLAND – Civil War re-enactment at the Mini Park starting in the afternoon Sunday, May 26, and camping overnight. Breakfast served at 6:30 a.m. Monday, May 27, at the post home. The Levielle Shorey VFW Post and Knights of Columbus from Lincoln will participate. Parade starts at 11:45 a.m. May 27 from the park. All units invited to participate. NORTHEAST HARBOR – Parade and exercises, sponsored by the Lurvey-Wright American Legion Post 103, at 10:30 a.m. May 27, proceeding down Main Street to the Joseph Musetti Jr. Memorial, where exercises will occur.

PRESQUE ISLE – Parade 10 a.m. May 27, starting at the University of Maine at Presque Isle and ending at Veterans Park.

ST. GEORGE – Parade 9 a.m. May 27, with lineup beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Tenants Harbor Baptist Church. At the public landing, an airplane fly over and wreath drop into the harbor. A bagpiper will perform and there will be a gunfire salute. The parade will proceed to the Kinney-Melquist American Legion, where a ceremony will be held with retired U.S. Marine Col. David Jones of Tenants Harbor as guest speaker. A pancake breakfast starting at 7 a.m. May 27, at the Masonic Hall will begin the day.

SOUTHWEST HARBOR – Parade begins at 9 a.m. at the Eugene M. Norwood Square at the intersection of Main Street and Seal Cove Road. The procession will include a U.S. Coast Guard color guard from Group Southwest Harbor, as well as town police, firefighters and EMTs. Three school bands will march in the parade, which will end at the village green, where a Memorial Day service will be led by Southwest Harbor veterans.

UNION – Phil White Hawk will perform a tribute to veterans with songs from America’s wartime years from 7 to 9 p.m. May 27, at the Thompson Community Center. Tickets are $6 at the door. The Thompson Community Center is at the corner of Route 17 and Route 131 south in Union. For information call 785-2202.

VAN BUREN – Memorial service at Mass 11 a.m. Sunday, May 26, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. After the Mass, two flag poles in front of the church will be dedicated. Ceremonies will be held afterward at local cemeteries and at the War Veterans Monument next to Violette Brook.

WINTER HARBOR – Parade, sponsored by Acadian Community Women’s Club, 10 a.m. May 27, in the parking lot of IGA supermarket, to proceed up Main Street to the Town Office. A ceremony will take place there at the end of the parade. Refreshments will be served in the gym of the neighboring Winter Harbor Grammar School after the ceremony.

WINTERPORT – American Legion Argonne Post 138 will conduct services at 11 a.m. May 27, with parade forming at Leroy Smith School, proceeding to the Memorial Library on Route 1A for a short service and then to the Civil War monument in Oak Hill Cemetery for the memorial program, with speaker Chief Master Sgt. Allen Graves of the 101st Security Forces Squadron, Hampden Academy providing music. Chaplain and Air Force Maj. Richard Dickinson of Winterport, 101st Air Refueling Wing, will give the invocation and benediction. Carnations will be available to place on the monument in honor of deceased veterans. Parade participants should be at Smith School by 10:45 a.m.
