HAMPDEN – The Hampden Academy Broncos defeated the Presque Isle Wildcats 9-5 in the first game of a doubleheader and Chad Lavway tossed a two-hitter as the Wildcats won the second game 11-0 in schoolboy baseball action Monday.

In the first game, Kyle Dalton led Hampden with two doubles for two RBIs, while Eric Libby and Matt Jackson each had a single, a double, and two RBIs.

Shane Carvell had an RBI, a single, and a double for Presque Isle.

In the second game, Sean Lyford plated three runners with a double and a single for the Wildcats, while Aaron Keirstead hit two singles and a double for two RBIs.

Randy Oliver and Blaine Meehan had a single apiece for Hampden.

At Bangor, Kayla Sherman nailed a two-run double while Monique Veilleux had a two-run single to help lead the Patriots to the win.

Danielle Miller had two singles and an RBI while Kara Hartman and Kaitlyn French contributed with two singles apiece.

Nicki Lyons and Kristi Brook each hit two singles for the Warriors of Dyer Brook.

Calais 24, Shead 4

At Calais, the Blue Devils jumped out to a 12-0 lead after the first inning and cruised to a five-inning win over the Tigers.

Lanna Martin had a home run, a single, and four runs batted in, and Katie Frost doubled and singled for Calais. Samantha Davis singled and drove in two runs for Shead of Eastport.
