Shead’s Maloney five-hits Blue Devils

CALAIS – Ben Maloney pitched a five-hitter, striking out three, to lead Shead of Eastport to an 11-6 high school baseball victory over Calais on Monday.

Wes Ellington rapped two doubles and Jason Bones singled twice for the Tigers.

Justin Donovan paced Calais with two singles.

Hampden splits with Presque Isle

At Hampden, the Broncos defeated Presque Isle 9-5 in the first game of a doubleheader and Chad Lavway tossed a two-hitter as the Wildcats won the second game 11-0.

In the first game, Kyle Dalton led Hampden with two doubles for two RBIs, while Eric Libby and Matt Jackson each had a single, a double, and two RBIs.

Shane Carvell had an RBI, a single, and a double for Presque Isle.

In the second game, Sean Lyford plated three runners with a double and a single for the Wildcats, while Aaron Keirstead hit two singles and a double for two RBIs.

Randy Oliver and Blaine Meehan had a single apiece for Hampden.

At Madawaska Saturday, Peter Gerard pitched a no-hitter for the Owls, striking out 10 and walking only three.

Marc Garcia had two RBIs on a double a single while Greg Dionne hit an RBI triple and single. Ted McHenry added an RBI double while Gerard chipped in with a double and a single.

Todd Thibeault and Andrew Gervais combined to pitch five innings for Wisdom.

At Calais, the Blue Devils jumped out to a 12-0 lead after the first inning and cruised to a five-inning win over the Tigers.

Lanna Martin had a home run, a single, and four runs batted in, and Katie Frost doubled and singled for Calais.

Samantha Davis singled and drove in two runs for Shead of Eastport.

At Bangor, Kayla Sherman nailed a two-run double while Monique Veilleux had a two-run single to help lead the Patriots to the win.

Danielle Miller had two singles and an RBI while Kara Hartman and Kaitlyn French contributed with two singles apiece.

Nicki Lyons and Kristi Brook each hit two singles for the Warriors of Dyer Brook.

At Bangor, Morgan Anderson’s fifth-inning home run was the biggest blow of 13 hits by the Cougars in their win over the Patriots on Saturday.

Jaymie Green had a triple, two doubles, and drove in two runs while Anderson added a double, single, and finished with two RBIs. K.C. Duffy-Stanley tripled, singled, and drove in two runs, and Meagan Libby singled twice and had an RBI for Katahdin of Sherman Station.

Heather Niles doubled, singled, and drove in a run, and Kayla Sherman and Danielle Miller had a pair of singles and an RBI apiece for Bangor Christian.
