Calais High School

CALAIS – Principal Jim Underwood has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2002. Commencement exercises will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at Calais High School.

Lanna Martin, daughter of Al and Mona Martin of Calais, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2002. She will attend St. Anselm College in Manchester, N.H., in the fall.

Martin is the senior class president, student council treasurer and National Honor Society treasurer. She was the recipient of the Seven Sisters Book Award and the Arts and Humanities Scholarship Award from the University of Rochester.

She was honored as Miss Maine Basketball her senior year, and received the Osborne Most Valuable Player awards for the last three years at the state tournaments. She was the Lady Blue Devils basketball captain and co-captain, soccer team captain and softball team captain. She participated on the school tennis and math teams and the yearbook committee.

Nancy Feck, daughter of Ralph and Deborah Feck of Alexander, has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2002. She will attend the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Conn., in the fall and will study psychology and journalism.

Feck is the National Honor Society president, Jobs for Maine Graduates president and Girls State senator, and has been a student council representative for three years.

She was co-captain of the Lady Blue Devils basketball and soccer teams and captain of the volleyball team. She participated on the math team and yearbook committee.
