Wollstadt sparks Old Town

OLD TOWN – Mary Wollstadt pitched a three-hit shutout, striking out six batters and walking only one, to help the Old Town Indians beat the Orono Red Riots 12-0 in high school softball action Tuesday.

Meghan King sent home three runners with a double and two singles while Sara Jones hit a double and two singles for two RBIs. Sarah Metivier had a double a single and two RBIs while Jill Ouellette added a two-run triple.

Woodland 8, Washington Acad. 2

At Woodland, Alicia Vose led the Dragons with a double, two singles and four RBIs.

Tara Williams contributed an RBI triple for Woodland.

Steph Almendinger hit a double and a single for Washington Academy of East Machias while Ashley Day had two singles.

At Machias, Tracy Guptill spread out seven hits, striking out four, as the Bulldogs won.

Jenny Grant backed Guptill with three singles and an RBI. Katrina Rudd provided two singles and two RBIs and Sarah Maker singled twice.

Sarah Beal and Naomi Chandler stroked two singles each for Jonesport-Beals.

At St. Agatha, Gabe Smith hit two doubles and had three RBIs to help carry Central Aroostook past Wisdom.

Ashley Clockedile contributed a double and a single for the Panthers of Mars Hill.

Michelle Bourgoine led Wisdom with a double, a single and four RBIs while Amber Voisine pounded out two doubles and two singles for three RBIs. Cindy Chamberland sent home three on a single and a triple while Christa Lizotte added three singles.

At Old Town, Joe Guerrette had the game-winning RBI in the bottom of the eighth inning as well as a two-run single to help lead the Indians to victory.

Brian Tewhey pounded out a double, two singles and a two-run home run for Old Town and Roger Cole had a two-run double and two singles. Shaun Tidwell added two singles and scored four runs.

Dusty Thomas smacked a three-run home run for Orono and Pat Skall contributed with two RBI singles.

At Lee, Jeremy Ham knocked in four runs on two singles and a triple and Blair Emery struck out seven in four innings as the Pandas rolled to the win.

Bruce Stevens doubled and singled twice and Emery added two singles. Jason Mallett smacked an RBI double and Zac Currie contributed a double.

Matt Conley hit two singles for the Patriots and Matt Turgeon singled and added an RBI.

At Machias, Jarad Day nailed a single and a two-run home run in the fifth as well as scattering four hits and striking out eight to lead the Bulldogs to the win.

Todd Stevens hit three singles and had two RBIs for Machias and Joe Richards contributed with two singles.

Kyle Mitchell had two singles and an RBI for Jonesport-Beals.

Wisdom 11, Central Aroostook 10

At St. Agatha, Jason Bouchard hit a two-run double and cracked an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh to put Wisdom up one for the victory.

Jeff Paradis had a two-run homer for the Pioneers while Brad Thibeault chipped in with a solo home run and two singles.

Adam Grew hit a double, a single and a solo homer to put Central Aroostook ahead temporarily in the seventh. Kyle Larrabee added three singles.
