Thibodeau grabs lead off restart for win

HERMON – Patrick Thibodeau of Winterport grabbed the lead on a mid-race restart and held on to win the 35-lap main event at Speedway 95 Sunday afternoon.

Thibodeau held off Don Alexander Jr. of Levant, who lost the lead on the restart. Third place went to Andy Saunders of Ellsworth. Aaron St. Peter of Brewer was fourth and Duane Seekins of Stockton Springs was fifth.

Winterport Dragway

At Winterport, A.C. Spencer of Clifton came away with a first-place finish in the Diesel Fuel Systems Diesel Day special feature race Sunday.

Spencer finished ahead of runner-up Kevin Lane of West Gardiner and John Albertson of Madison. Quarterfinalists included Fred Peckham Jr., of Fitchburg, Mass., Bob Raymond of Epping, N.H., and Kris Watson of Oakfield.

Raymond also won best of show.

Unity Raceway

At Unity, five caution flags slowed down the first round of the D.N.K. Select Street Stock Triple Crown Series race, but the action up front was fast and furious as six drivers traded lead changes seven times.

Bernie Ramsdell of Canaan worked the inside groove and made his final pass on lap 27 to take the lead for good in the 30-lap main event. Fairfield’s Andy Turbovsky was second and Adam Gilman of Canaan was third.

Wiscasset Raceway

At Wiscasset, a pair of rollovers, a two-car crash, and assorted spins and crunched metal gave fans something to see Saturday night.

The spotlight was on the Lightweight B Division as a special 30-lap Demon Feature saw pole-sitter Mike Brown of Hope stage a late comeback to overtake Vassalboro’s Ozzie Cummings by half a car-length at the finish line. Mike Williams of Gardiner was third, followed by Ryan Gero of West Gardiner and Steve Wilson of Augusta.

Beech Ridge Motor Speedway

At Scarborough, Dan McKeage of Gorham made a three-wide pass at the finish line on lap 79 to grab the lead at the NASCAR Pro Series race at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway Saturday night.

The move paid off as McKeage held the lead for the next 21 laps and took the checkered flag to notch his first series win. Rookie Dave Oliver of Scarborough chased McKeage across the line for his highest finish in the division. Pee Wee Knight of Standish was third, followed by Jim Manchester of Gorham and Bill Rodgers of Old Orchard Beach.
