LEWISTON – A Lewiston man faces a charge of gross sexual assault in connection with a weekend attack on a girl who police said was a minor.

Jeffrey Pepin, 21, was ordered to be held in the Androscoggin County Jail on bail set at $10,000 cash or $200,000 in property.

Pepin was arrested Saturday after police forced their way into his Bates Street apartment.

He also is accused of failing to appear in court to answer an outstanding theft charge, police said.
