CARIBOU – Principal David Ouellette has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2002. Commencement exercises will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at Caribou High School.

Seth Robertson, son of Daniel and Tamra Robertson of Woodland, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2002. He will attend the University of Maine to study microbiology.

Throughout his years at Caribou High, he was a homeroom representative, a member of the Student Council, Civil Rights Team, Students Against Drunk Drivers, Key Club, Youth Alive, band, National Honor Society, Math Team, varsity volleyball, Junior Exhibition Speaker, Academic Team and the Drama Club. He was a HOBY ambassador, a Dirigo Boys State delegate, All Festival Cast member at the 2002 State Drama Festival, Physical Education Student of the Year, Sophomore English Student, Junior Math Student, Junior Social Studies Student, Bausch & Lomb Science Award, Book Award, Senior Math Student and the Stephen Bielinski Memorial Award recipient. He has received the Principal’s Award for four years of high school. In 2001, he received the Maine Scholars Achievement Award, was a Prudential Spirit of Community School Nominee in 2001 and 2002 and this year received a Top Scholar Award from the University of Maine.

Robertson has been active in the Aroostook Teen Leadership Camp, Boy Scouts, and community service at Woodland Consolidated School and a member of the Mapleton United Methodist Church. He became an Eagle Scout in December 1999, has completed over 100 hours of community service at Woodland, and logged over 100 hours for Aroostook Teen Leadership Camp.

Haley Jepson, daughter of Brent and Ann Jepson of Woodland, has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2002. She will attend Bowdoin College in Brunswick and study biology-pre-med.

Her high school activities included junior varsity soccer, junior varsity basketball, co-captain of varsity swimming, varsity soccer, track and field, band, All Aroostook Band, homeroom representative, vice president of French Club, Junior Exhibition, Freshman Class Play, Maine’s Junior Miss delegate, Dirigo Girls State and president of National Honor Society.

Jepson has received honor and awards such as the Maine Scholars Achievement Award, Society of Women Engineers Award, 2001-2002 Outstanding French student, 2002 PVC Swimming and Diving Championships, and 2002 Eastern Maine Regional Track Championships.

She has volunteered at the Aroostook Teen Leadership Camp, assisting swimming instructors, helping at town breakfasts and suppers, has been a Special Olympics volunteer and a D.A.R.E. role model. She is employed in the summer at the Caribou Recreation Department as a lifeguard and swimming instructor.
