AUGUSTA – Maine’s largest teachers’ union has elected a science teacher from Lewiston Middle School as its new president.

Rob Walker will replace Idella Harter as president of the 25,000-member Maine Education Association.

Harter, an Auburn teacher who has served as MTA president for the past four years, is running for a state House of Representative seat.
