FARMINGTON – A Farmington man has been charged with gross sexual assault for allegedly raping a 21-year-old woman at knifepoint.

Lewiston police arrested Ryan Currier, 26, Monday morning. Officers had been looking for Currier since Sunday morning, when a woman reported being raped in Currier’s apartment.

An acquaintance of the woman had asked her for a ride from Currier’s home because he had been drinking, Farmington police Lt. Jack Peck said.

According to Peck, the acquaintance passed out after the woman arrived, and Currier pulled out a knife, tied the woman up, duct-taped her mouth and raped her.

The woman managed to call 911 after she heard Currier drive off in her car, Peck said.

Currier is on state probation for burglary and federal probation for making threatening communications, Peck said.
