BANGOR – Run-scoring doubles from Jonesport-Beals’ Hermena Beal and Sarah Beal and an RBI single from Monique Emerson in the seventh rallied No. 6 Jonesport-Beals to a 10-9 upset of No. 2 Bangor Christian in Class D Southeast Division semifinal softball action Friday.

Sarah Beal finished with two singles, a double, and the game-winning RBI. Shafay Look doubled twice and singled, and Jody Pinkham drove in two runs with a double. Rachelle Parker struck out four and walked eight for the Royalettes.

Kara Hartman struck out eight and walked two for the Patriots. Danielle Miller hit a pair of singles and a double while driving in two runs for the Patriots, and Kendil Snow added an RBI single.

At Fairfield, Joy Ireland allowed only three hits while striking out seven to help the No. 1 Bulldogs eliminate the No. 5 Rams in the Northeast Division semifinal.

Stacey Dostie paced Lawrence with a two-run double and two singles. DeeDee Rogers chipped in with a two-run single during Lawrence’s five-run fifth inning.

Steph Chase doubled for Bangor, and Megan Huckins had an RBI single.

At East Machias, Jerod Kronholm’s two-run homer in the top of the seventh helped the Vikings overcome a one-run deficit in their Class C Northeast Division semifinal contest against the Raiders.

Washington Academy had taken the lead in the bottom of the sixth, after trailing by three runs, with a pair of two-run home runs from Barret Craven and Jared Gray.

Don Rainer singled twice and drove in two runs for Searsport, and Marcus Quisenberry singled twice.

Bucksport 1, Belfast 0

At Bucksport Thursday, Bucksport righthander Adam Sheehan shut out No. 4 Belfast while scattering seven hits to help the No. 1 Bucks advance.

Abram Allard hit an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth to send home Kyle Mercer with the game-winning run. Jason Harvey added two singles and started a bases-loaded double play to Allard in the sixth that helped the Golden Bucks hold on to the lead.

Kevin Gray hit a double and a single for Belfast.

Reporting games

Guidelines for coaches

During the busy high school season, the NEWS asks that managers and coaches for the home teams promptly report the games. Games can be reported starting at 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday and 3 p.m. on Sundays. Games can not be reported on Saturday.

Those seeking to report games from the Greater Bangor area may call at 990-8275. Those outside the Bangor area may call toll free at 1-800-310-8600. Game results will also be accepted through the fax machine. Its number is 990-8092.

Coaches and managers are urged to provide details for both teams when reporting games. First names of players on both teams as well as statistics are needed. Those not providing full details for both teams run the risk of the games not being published in the paper.
