Brewer High School

Brewer – Principal Jerry Goss has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2002. Commencement exercises were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at the Brewer High School gymnasium.

Christopher Paul Sighinolfi, son of Paul Sighinolfi and Vickie Sidou, both of Brewer, has the highest grade-point average of the 2002 graduating class. He plans to attend the University of Pennsylvania with an undecided major.

He has been class president involved with National Honor Society, peer tutoring, the math team, student council, Key Club, varsity cross-country, varsity swimming, varsity indoor track, and outdoor track as well as other activities.

Sighinolfi also has received the following academic honors: Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award, Maine Scholars Achievement Award, U.S. Senate Youth Program Delegate, National Principals’ Leadership Award, Princeton Book Award, NISCA All-American Academic, as well as others.

Anthony Doucette, son of David and Ruth Doucette of Eddington, has the second-highest grade-point average for his graduating class. He will attend Pennsylvania State University in the school of engineering with an undecided major.

He has been involved with National Honor Society, a Study Buddies Program, varsity baseball, soccer, basketball, American Legion baseball and other school and community service activities.

Doucette has received the following academic honors: Williams College Book Award, University of Maine Scholars Achievement Award, Brewer Kiwanis Club Senior Mathematics Award and others.

Arielle A. Bridges, daughter of Ron Bridges of Portland and Donna Accettullo of Brewer, has the third-highest grade-point average in her 2002 graduating class. She plans to attend a four-year college then graduate school at the University of Vermont, majoring in biology and psychology.

She has been involved with the National Honor Society, Key Club, the school newsletter, literary magazine and Student Union, as well as other activities.

Bridges has received the following academic honors: Maine Scholars Achievement Award, Society of Women Engineers for outstanding work in math and science, Brewer Kiwanis Club High Honors Senior and Most Outstanding AP Spanish Language student, among others.
