A Bangor man turned himself in shortly after fleeing his vehicle and police when officers attempted to pull him over for a broken headlight, officials said.

Joseph Derouin, 18, had been driving his mother’s 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass on Forest Avenue when police attempted to pull him over, Bangor police Officer Wade Betters said. Derouin quickly pulled into a driveway at 64 Forest Ave. and took off on foot, leaving behind two friends in the back seat of the car. Police found two burned marijuana cigarettes in the front of the car that the passengers said belonged to Derouin.

Derouin later turned himself in to police at the advice of his father and admitted the marijuana belonged to him, Betters said. Derouin was charged with possession of a usable amount of marijuana and will appear in Bangor 3rd District Court on July 15.

When Angelo asked Rolfe to leave he began yelling that he needed to be arrested and when he was asked to stay out of the road he got in front of traffic on the street and refused to move.

“Rolfe has this burning desire to go to jail,” Angelo said. He had begged police to arrest him the night before as well, but had done nothing wrong.

Rolfe has been arrested for varying circumstances, officials said.

A breathalyzer test determined that Teig’s blood-alcohol level was 0.20 percent, more than twice the 0.08 percent legal limit, Angelo said. Teig was charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants, operating a vehicle with a suspended license and being an habitual offender.

Teig was released from Penobscot County Jail later Saturday night on personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in 3rd District Court in Bangor on July 15.

A Bangor man may likely have been saved from attack by the presence of coworkers Friday afternoon after three men had threatened him with baseball bats in the parking lot outside of his place of employment, police said.

The man had been at a stoplight at the intersection of Main and Railroad streets when he felt a wad of paper strike him on the side of his head after coming through his open driver’s side window, Bangor police Officer Jeff Small said. Three men in a green Jeep Grand Cherokee were laughing at the man and he exited his vehicle while still waiting at the stoplight to confront them.

The driver of the jeep reportedly asked the man, “What’s a matter old man, you want some of this,” before driving off and into a nearby parking lot when the traffic light changed to green, Small said. The 47-year-old man got back into his vehicle and began to drive to work when the Jeep began to closely follow him to his workplace on the Perry Road.

When the man got out of his vehicle the three men approached him with baseball bats but retreated when coworkers began to come outside, Small said. The Jeep’s driver struck the man’s knee with the front driver’s side bumper as he quickly turned to leave the area.

The driver of the Jeep was described as a younger male, clean cut and short, Small said. Police were still looking for the trio Sunday night.

According to Bangor police Officer Paul Colley, Thomas was attacked on Ohio Street shortly before 6 p.m. by a dog belonging to Jean Barry.
