I have just returned from chaperoning a field trip to [the Maine Forest and Logging Museum] at Leonard’s Mills in Bradley with the Viola Rand School of Bradley.

Being a resident of Bradley and a Leonard’s Mill member, I was very pleased at what I found there.

The entire Bradley school, K-5 and other area elementary classes were there. The volunteers presented such an impressive program from the moment we left the bus at the parking lot until we returned three hours later.

There was something for everyone – a nature trail walk, a storyteller and musician, puppet show at the amphitheater, lots of games, such as tug of war (very popular), sack races, bean bag toss, stilts, a juggler, a weaver, a spinner, and lots more. I enjoyed the morning and wish to thank those members of Leonard’s Mills Volunteers for their dedication and patience with all of the children ages six to 60-plus.

If your school has not gone to Leonard’s Mills contact them today at 581-2871. It’s worth the trip – bugs and all.
