PRESQUE ISLE – The Garden Club Federation of Maine will hold its 71st annual convention June 19-20 at the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
The Wednesday morning business meetings will be overseen by Claire Hunt, president of the Boothbay Region Garden Club, and afterward Reese Manley will present a program on “The Garden Legacy of Lyle Littlefield.”
In the afternoon, there will be a tour of Hunter Garden and refreshments at Friends Church, where the Underground Railroad in the area will be discussed. A standard flower show will be presented at the home of the UMPI president.
The Gallagher Brothers will provide entertainment at the evening banquet after Hunt and Muriel Jorgensen present national awards and presidential citations.
Thursday morning’s annual business meeting will be followed by geologist and anthropologist David Putnam speaking on “Unconscious Habitat.” At the noon awards luncheon, Muriel Jorgenson, awards chairman, and Sandi Keenan, youth activities chairman, will present awards to clubs and individual members. Pat Brandeberger will announce the GCFM College Scholarship winner for this year.
