Waterville soccer star Christine Serdjenian has been selected to play in the Powerade McDonalds All-American high school soccer game Saturday on Daniel Island in Charleston, S.C. She flew to Charleston Thursday, her father Mark Serdjenian said.

Serdjenian, who will attend Brown University next fall, was one of 36 girls from across the country picked for the team. She will play for the East squad.

Falmouth High’s Jeff Davis is also set to participate in the game. Davis will attend Davidson College next fall.

Murphy moves into Dow’s post

George Stevens of Blue Hill athletic director Jim Murphy will take over the position of associate executive director of the Maine Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association, executive director and Kennebunk athletic director Marty Wells said this week.

Murphy is replacing Don Dow, the Stearns of Millinocket athletic director, who is retiring from the MIAAA position. Murphy will represent the MIAAA at Maine Principals’ Association meetings, among other duties.
