I can only point out a few of the gaping flaws in Matt Rossignol’s twisted view of heterosexual love as logical (BDN letter, June 13).

Yes, man and woman were intended to procreate in order to propagate the human species, as are all animals, plants and other living creatures. I like to believe that “love” transcends the biological hardwiring installed by nature and becomes something much more than a mechanical baby-making process.

Humankind has advanced to the point where love includes mutual respect, compassion, endearment, affection and a melding of two people’s souls to create a whole greater than its parts.

Rossignol’s definition of love would make us mindless, genetically controlled creatures, and reduces the meaning of humanity to its lowest level.
