Lubec Consolidated School
LUBEC – Commencement exercises were held June 9 for the Class of 2002.
Meghan Daye, daughter of William and Catherine Daye of Lubec, was named valedictorian of the Class of 2002. She will attend the University of Maine to study biology.
She maintained a high honor average throughout her four years at Lubec Consolidated School. She held the title of class president or vice president in all four years, was a member of the student council, National Honor Society, travel club and yearbook.
Daye participated in volleyball and basketball for four years, and softball for two years. She was captain in all sports her senior year.
She attended Girls State and Haystack Art Workshop. She volunteers at the Food Pantry, as a religious education teacher, and helps out with the Girl Scouts.
Evan Seavey, son of Roger and Anne Seavey of Lubec, was named salutatorian for the Class of 2002. He will attend Maine Maritime Academy to study power engineering technology.
He maintained high grades all four years at Lubec Consolidated School.
He was a member of the National Honor Society and served as its vice president. He was a member of the travel club, French club, and member and president of the student council in his senior year. He was chosen Student of the Month for three years.
Seavey participated in soccer, basketball and golf and attended Boys State. He volunteers at his local church and for his community.
Honor essayists were Melissa Seavey, daughter of Neil and Nancy Fitzsimmons of Lubec; Amber Lavalley, daughter of Debora Lavalley of Lubec; and Noah Buehner, son of James Buehner and Martha Mithoefer of Lubec.
