Sebasticook outslugs Penquis in opener

NEWPORT – Phil Hendricks doubled and singled with three RBIs Tuesday as the Sebasticook Storm edged Penquis 16-15 in their mutual Zone 1 American Legion baseball opener.

Seth Bradstreet hit three single with three RBIs, Ryan McLellan had two singles and a RBI for the Storm while Tyler McKenzie hit two singles with three RBIs and Ryan Kennedy singled twice with one RBI.

James Gray hit a triple and a single with a RBI for the Penquis. Seth Gabbaro had a double with a RBI. Ethan Annis hit two singles with a RBI. Brian White also had two singles with one RBI.

At Calais, Bo Thomas and Ryan Levesque each hit two doubles and singled to help lead the Orono Twins to a season-opening victory Tuesday.

Chris Rand picked up the win for the Twins.

Joe Footer led Calais with a three-run home run in the fifth inning.

At Marshfield, Billy Chapman and Keith Nason combined on a three-hitter as Bangor opened with a victory.

Chapman struck out 10 and walked two in five innings, before Nason pitched two scoreless frames. Brian Worcester singled twice for the Comrades, who scored five runs in the third.

Andy Treadwell stroked a two-run double while Nate Hall and Zev Myerowitz had RBI singles.

Nate Arthers hit an RBI double and Kevin Gray had a run-scoring single for Waldo-Knox.

Blue Hill 6 , Bangor 1

At Blue Hill, Travis Bannister led Blue Hill’s hitting with a double and two singles with two RBIs in a Bay Area League game.

Craig Harvey had a pair of singles, Joel Wilson and Derek Awalt each had a double for Blue Hill.

Rich Lowell hit a single and scored Bangor’s only run.
