HARRINGTON – State police Thursday were working in conjunction with the State Medical Examiner’s Office to determine what caused the death of a 39-year-old Milbridge man in Harrington.

Sgt. Dennis Appleton of the Maine State Police said Brian Willey collapsed in a driveway on North Street at approximately 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. An ambulance was called, but attempts to resuscitate Willey were not successful, the sergeant said.

Appleton said Willey appeared to be intoxicated and police are reasonably sure that alcohol was a contributing factor in his death.

Police are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine whether other intoxicants were involved, he said.

Appleton said that the death was not considered suspicious and that state police were involved because at this point the cause and manner of death were unexplained.
