Foxwoods reported at $70.4 million net slot for the month of March, the best March in the casino’s history. The amount is $9.7 million higher than in March 2001. The month’s slot handle, which measures the overall level of slot business, was $857.5 million, up $91.3 million.
March was also a generous month to casino patrons, with the 6,721 units paying out 91.78 percent of the handle. The win per unit per day was $338.32 for the month. This compares to $340.60 in March 2001. The $17.6 million contribution to the state is up from last March’s $15.1 million.
The funds sent to the state represent a 25 percent share of the casino’s net win for slots, and is part of a unique revenue-sharing agreement that results in payments to every town in the state.
Maine can use this kind of money.
