NEWPORT – Joe Cough hit a double and two singles with five RBIs to help the Trenton Acadians win the second game 20-5 and sweep Sebasticook in an American Legion baseball doubleheader Saturday.

Trenton won the opener 14-6.

In the first game, Ben Freedman hit two doubles and a single with one RBI for Trenton. Garrett Hardison chipped in with two singles with three RBIs and Ryan Hutchins singled twice and drove in two runs.

Steve Kennedy had three singles with two RBIs for the Storm. Jake Lasselle had a pair of singles.

In the second game, Brandon Colbeth hit a triple and Blake Alley had a double to lead the Acadians.

Justin Veazie hit a pair of singles with two RBIs for Sebasticook. Josh Vile hit a double with one RBI and Steve Kennedy also doubled.

At Houlton, Mike Lenentine hit an RBI single in the bottom of the 10th to drive in Alex English and give Houlton the win Sunday.

Justin Henderson caught a sinking line drive for the third out in the top of ninth to extend the game for the Shiretowners. Henderson also hit four singles.

Matt Malone hit a single and a double for the Lumbermen. Scott Flannery had two singles.

Lincoln, Orono split

At the Orono High field, Jeff Miller recorded three singles and drove in two runs to help Orono win the second game 10-3 and gain a split of the doubleheader.

Lincoln won the first game 8-3.

In the second game, In the Brian Tewhey chipped in with two singles and two RBIs in the second game for Orono. Tom Lasko laced a two-run double for Lincoln and Josh Thompson added an RBI double. Scott Flannery also doubled.

In the first game, Nate Dow ripped a bases-loaded triple in the second inning to provide Lincoln with the win. Nate Cousineau chipped in with three singles and an RBI while Matt Malone singled, doubled and drove in a run.

Bangor sweeps Calais

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Zev Myerowitz cranked a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh to give Bangor an 8-4 victory in the first game and the Comrades went on to roll past Calais 19-2 for a doubleheader sweep.

Myerowitz also gained the win in relief in the first game. Nate Hall chipped in with three singles and an RBI.

James MacDonald, Joe Footer and Scott MacDonald each notched two singles for Calais with James MacDonald driving in two runs and Scott MacDonald one.

Andrew Treadwell paced Bangor in the second game with two singles and two RBIs. Hall added two singles and Jessefa Murphy had a two-run single.

Brewer and Blue Hill split

At Blue Hill, Brewer won the opener of a Bay Area League doubleheader 3-1 and Blue Hill came back to take the second 2-1.

In the first game, Evan Stinson singled a scored a run for Brewer. Aaron Largay had a RBI single and Aaron Janson hit a single.

Chris Candage and Seth Cole each had two singles for Blue Hill.

In the second game, Brewer left the bases loaded in the fifth and stranded two more in the sixth.

Nate Cox hit a triple and single with one RBI for Blue Hill. Simeon Allen had an RBI single and John Lewandowski doubled.

Evan Stinson hit a single with a RBI for Brewer and Pete Saunders and Pat Estey singled.

At Heddericg Field in Brewer Sunday, Rory O’Donnell had a no-hitter going before a Mark Reed single ended the bid in the fifth, but that was the only hit O’Donnell allowed as he led Belfast Merchants to the win over Central Maine Cleaning of Bangor.

Roland Littlefield and Devin Potvin each doubled and singled for Belfast Merchants.
