HOULTON – Three people, including a young boy, remained in the hospital Monday with injuries they suffered in a car accident Sunday night.

William Collins, 42, of Houlton, Gloria Jones, 49, residence unknown, and Michael Jones-Simon, 6, residence also unknown, were listed in stable condition at Houlton Regional Hospital where they were admitted for treatment of unspecified injuries.

All three were wearing seat belts, according to Houlton Police Chief Daniel Soucy.

Collins was headed north on Alice Avenue at about 9:45 p.m. Sunday when he suddenly accelerated, lost control of his 1969 Plymouth and crashed into the concrete foundation of a demolished potato house a few feet off the left side of the road. The car sustained damage estimated by police at $1,000.

The Houlton ambulance and Houlton Fire Department Rescue Team responded to the accident.

Cpl. Dana Duff of the Houlton Police Department investigated the crash.
