Three Rivers Kiwanis plans coffee house event

Three Rivers Kiwanis Club of Milo and Brownville has scheduled its first Coffee House entertainment at 7 p.m. Friday, July 5, in the newly renovated Milo Town Hall Arts Center.

The Coffee House will feature a musical performance by Chairback Gap and a return engagement by the 10- and 12-year-old Smith Brothers playing fiddle and guitar. Desserts, coffee, iced tea and soda will be on sale. Advance tickets may be purchased for $8 at Trask Insurance on Main Street in Milo or at the door Friday evening. Proceeds will be used to continue the renovations to the 78-year-old Milo Town Hall auditorium, which has become the performing arts center for students in SAD 41, as well as the venue for other cultural events in the area.

More than 300 people have donated to the project, including grants of $25,000 from the Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation, $12,500 from the Eric and Virginia Treworgy Charitable Fund, and $7,500 from the Maine Community Foundation.

Since Three Rivers Kiwanis Club pledged at the inception of the project to raise the money needed, the generosity of donors has enabled the project to proceed toward completion in a relatively short time. The Kiwanis Club will continue sponsoring fund-raising events until the project is finished.
