CARY PLANTATION – Three people were treated at Houlton Regional Hospital and released after a car they were in hit a moose on Route 1 Friday night.
The 10:30 p.m. accident demolished the sports car and the moose died from injuries.
Trooper Darren Foster reported that Sheldon Barker was traveling south on Route 1 when the moose came out of the woods onto the road.
Barker hit the moose head-on. The moose crashed through the windshield of the car.
Barker and his two passengers, Josh Lee, 14, of Danforth, Barker’s grandson, and Tasha Amero, 16, of Danforth all were treated for minor facial injuries from the glass, Foster said.
